Dangers of Worldly Pleasure

THE DANGERS OF WORDLY OR SINFUL PLEASURE.
The dictionary defines pleasure as the feeling of being happy or satisfied. It can also be simply defined as enjoyment. This enjoyment can be derived through series of things. It is natural for human beings to seek pleasure and it is not necessarily evil or sinful. However, pleasure can become worldly, evil or sinful in the following ways !.
1. When one follows ungodly and sinful ways to satisfy the desires of the soul and body-physical and material needs.
2. When one takes the way of ease and comfort as against serving God sacrificially.
3. Engaging in worldly affairs at a time or periods one should serve
God or be busy with spiritual affairs 2 Tim 3:4; Phil 3:18 -20;
Jude 4,18-19.
4. When ordinary cares of life- sleep, eating and drinking, watching TV.
& Video films, talking, idleness, attending social functions, etc take
the bulk of one`s time and one sees spiritual things- praying, fasting, godliness, church attendance, night vigil, etc as cumbersome and less important.
The Disadvantages of sinful pleasure
1. It kills Holy Spirit fire in the heart.
1Peter 2:11.
2. It makes one loose divine favour. Rom. 8:5-8.
3. It hinders prayers Jam. 4 : 3.
4. It hinders divine promotion and blessing. Isa. 58:13-14.
5. It brings poverty Pro.21:17.
5. It is the way down the ladder of success. See David`s sin with
Bathsheba and it`s consequences in 2 Sam.11&12.See also Samson’s
life of immortality and its consequences. Jud. 14:1-3, 16:1-31.
See also Eccl. 10:16-17, Prov. 31:4-6.
7. It opens the way for satanic attack s. Matt. 13:25, Prov. 6: 4-11.
8. It leads to spiritual backsliding.
9. It ends up in hell fire.

Examples of People Who Shunned Worldly or Sinful Pleasure.
1. MOSES. ‘It was said of him." By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endure, as seeing him who is invisible. Heb. 11:24-27.
2. JOSEPH. ``Concerning him the bible writes "And it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold, my master wotteh not what is in with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand. There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back nany thing from me but thee, because thou hath his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God ?. And it came to pass as she spake to Joseph day to day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her. And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the those to do his business; and their was none of the men of the house there within. And she caught him by his garment, saying, lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and got him out`. Gen 39:7-12.
3. PAUL. He himself said. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may with Christ.
Phil.3:7-8.
4. JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD
Finally, Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about with so great an cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God`. Heb 12:1-2.
God bless you really good.

....He sent forth His word and His word healeth them.......You can be healed by the power of His word.....
