TOPIC: BIBLE STANDS ON LIVING A SINLESS (HOLY) LIFE TEXTS:LEV. 11:45, I Pet. 1:15-16 It is a common thing to hear people say that one cannot live in this world without committing sins. As a result, many people live carelessly, excuse sins in their lives and never bother to fight against sins and all forms of ungodly living .We will however examine the scriptural view on this all important subject .It is very important to believe the Bible and not just what men say. THE SCRIPTURAL STANDS. 1. Our God is holy.Lev.11:45 ,I Pet.1:15,Exo15:11 His nature and character is holiness and that is what He takes glory in. His glory is embedded in His holiness. 2. We are called to be holy like God.IPet.1:16 ,Rom.1:7,Matt.5:48. The Christian call is a call to holiness and we must be like Him since two people cannot walk together except they agree. Amos 3:3 3. Having been born again we have been made partakers of God’s sinless and holy nature. 2Pet.1:3 -4 ,I Jhn.3:9-10. If we are TRULY REGENERATED, we have inherited His SINLESS, UNDEFILED AND INCORRUPTIBLE nature of God. We must then manifest it in our daily walks and deeds. 4. The grace of salvation teaches us to reject ungodliness and worldliness; and to live soberly, righteously and godly .It is a must for us if we are truly saved. Titus2:11-12,Eph2:1-5,5:3 . If anyone is taught anything apart from this, he has fallen into error and his heaven is uncertain. By the way what does he takes ‘SALVATION’ to mean? Does he understand it at all? 5. Pure and acceptable religion or service before God is to keep ourselves from sin in the world. Jam.1:27, Rom.12:1-2 Any works of service rendered into God - Tithes, offerings, church attendance, activity groups’ membership, praise worship, etc must be done in holiness if not it is unacceptable before God. 6 We are to serve God in holiness. Lk.1: 73-75 No unholy and unrighteous person can serve our holy and righteous God acceptably. 7. Paul the apostle prayed that God’s people will be without sins, blameless and wholly sanctified. Phil.1: 9-21,I Thess 5: 23. Since Paul prayed like this for the Church, it is a matter of necessity. It is an issue of serious concern to God and not a trivial one that Christian of today have made it to become. 8. He also charged them to be pure and blameless. Rom.12:2, IThess.4:3-4, Phil.2:15. This is a charge that Christ repeatedly gives his people, saints and elect. Are you of them? 9. Jesus wants to present a spotless, blameless and holy Church before God. Eph5:27, Col1:21-22. This is the main goal of Jesus that made Him offer His sinless body as a sacrifice for the sinful world on the cross. 10. Only such people who are spotless, blameless and holy will be raptured. I Thess3:12-13 Anyone corrupted and defiled by sin is automatically disqualified. 11. Without holiness we cannot see God Heb12:14. Isa35:8, Rev. 21:27 We must be absolutely holy in order to see this THRICE HOLY GOD. Will you see Him? 12. We must prepare for Christ’s coming remaining spotless.2 Pet 3 : 10-12 We cannot indulge in worldly and sinful pleasures, inordinate affection and the likes and still expect to go with Christ. No way. 13. Anyone that has the hope of making the rapture at Christ’s coming must purify himself. I Jn.3:2-3 This hope of making the rapture must essentially ginger us to keep ourselves pure. 14. There are blessings for the undefiled.Psa.119:1-3, Matt. 5:8, I Tim. 4:8. Godliness and righteousness is profitable in this world and that to come. It is a highly rewarding venture. 15. Jesus is able to keep us blameless and perfect. Jude 24, Heb. 4:14-16, I Thess. 5:23-24. Jesus can definitely do it if only we shall believe, ask Him to do it and yield totally unto Him as He rebukes, corrects, breaks and remoulds us so as to reach the PERFECTION stage. See Eph. 4:12-13 CHALLENGES FOR US 1. We must strive for the holiness without which no man shall see God. Heb12:14. 2. We must strive to enter heaven through the narrow gate. Luke13:24 3. We must give ourselves wholly to the word of God so as to be continuously cleansed and hence become perfect. Jn15:3,17:17. 4. Instead of giving excuses for our shortcomings, we should pray hard for the grace to live a righteous and perfect life.Matt5:48 5. Our prayers should not center on physical needs and material things alone. We should take enough time to pray for the grace of God and power of holiness and this should be a daily practice.Matt6:13. 6. We must understand that temptations will surely come but with the grace and power of God(for holiness) we will overcome temptations and remain sinless. |
